French Polynesia Tourist Guide

Uncover the beauty of French Polynesia, the perfect tropical getaway for a cruising vacation; a chance to discover one of the most exotic and beautiful destinations in the world. Although Tahiti is the most famous island cluster of French Polynesia, visitors can find paradise throughout all parts of this region of the South Pacific. No matter which island you choose, French Polynesia offers everything needed for a tranquil escape.

The capital of Tahiti, Papeete is the largest island and nicknamed 'the island of love'. It is a visitor's first port of call because of the international airport of Tahiti-Faa'a which is located here. Moorea is the sister island, some 9 miles north west of Papeete. Here the calm waters of Cooks Bay and Opunohu Bay lap at its mighty volcanic peaks which rise up into the sky. Bora Bora is 150 miles north west of Tahiti in the Society Islands, as is Huahine Island, which comprises two islands joined by a narrow neck of land and enclosed by a protective necklace of coral. Rangiroa with its 42 mile long turquoise lagoon is the largest atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago.

These islands are surrounded by the most beautiful waters in the world and cruising may be the most complete way to experience all that they offer. To sail from island to island and meandering through the calm, clear lagoons, in an intimate surrounding with the chance to be close the villages and their people. A chance to explore a remote and authentic destination, a mix of simple pleasure blended with discovery and new experience.
